Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve

Your journey begins early in the morning with a scenic drive from Nairobi through the Great Rift Valley escarpment, where you can stop briefly for a photo opportunity of the expansive valley floor. The drive continues past rolling farmlands and rural settlements, arriving at Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch at your mid-range lodge or tented camp.

After lunch, embark on your first afternoon game drive in one of the world’s richest wildlife reserves. The Masai Mara is home to the famed Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino—alongside cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and countless antelope species. The open savannahs and acacia-dotted plains provide excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing.

Return to your lodge at sunset, where you can relax around a campfire and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared with fresh local ingredients. As night falls, the distant roars of lions and the chirping of crickets complete the authentic African bush experience.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Wake up early to the sounds of nature and enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading out for a full-day game drive in the vast plains of the Masai Mara. The park is a photographer’s paradise, offering golden morning light and a chance to witness animals in their natural behavior—predators hunting, elephants grazing, and hippos basking in the rivers.

During the Great Migration (July to October), you’ll have the chance to see one of the world’s most dramatic wildlife spectacles, as over 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River in search of greener pastures. Even outside migration season, the park remains teeming with wildlife year-round.

Enjoy a picnic lunch by the Mara River, surrounded by breathtaking views and perhaps a sighting of crocodiles or hippos. After lunch, continue exploring different parts of the reserve, including the Olare Orok and Musiara sectors, each offering unique ecosystems and wildlife diversity.

Before returning to the lodge, you can visit a Masai village (optional activity) to experience the traditional culture and lifestyle of the Maasai people—learn about their customs, dances, and vibrant beadwork.

Return to your camp for dinner and an evening at leisure under the starlit African sky.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Lake Naivasha – Nairobi

After breakfast, depart Masai Mara and drive towards Lake Naivasha, a tranquil freshwater lake located in the Great Rift Valley. The journey offers scenic views of rolling hills, escarpments, and rural Kenya at its finest.

Upon arrival, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you can spot hippos, waterbucks, and a variety of bird species, including African fish eagles, cormorants, and pelicans. The calm waters and surrounding greenery provide a serene contrast to the rugged wilds of the Masai Mara.

You may also visit the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, a small island accessible by boat, where you can walk among freely roaming giraffes, zebras, and antelopes—an intimate and unforgettable experience for nature lovers.

After exploring Naivasha, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a lakeside restaurant before driving back to Nairobi. Arrive in the evening, marking the end of your 3-day adventure filled with wildlife encounters, natural beauty, and unforgettable memories.
