Gates and getting there
From Nairobi, Tsavo West is reached via the Mtito Andei gate (232 km) and Tsavo East via the Voi gate (325 km), both on the A109 Nairobi-Mombasa road. From the coast, Tsavo East is only two to four hours from Mombasa through the Bachuma or Buchuma gate.

Best time to visit Tsavo
The dry season from June to October concentrates game around the rivers and waterholes and is the easiest time for viewing. Tsavo’s famous dust-red elephants are a year-round sight.

What is the difference between Tsavo East and Tsavo West?
Tsavo East is bigger, flatter and drier, known for huge red-dust elephants. Tsavo West is more scenic and hilly, with Mzima Springs and black rhino. The Nairobi-Mombasa road separates them.
